Position Title: Chief Information Officer Location: Demorest, Georgia Position Type: Full-Time To Apply: https:// apply.interfolio.com/84538 or www.piedmont.edu Position Description - Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Administration & Finance, the CIO is responsible for providing leadership to the College for information technology services in support of administrative, student support, and academic services.
- Will develop and implement comprehensive information technology strategies that support the core educational and administrative objectives of Piedmont College.
- Serve on committees and/or represent Administration and Finance, as directed by the Vice President, developing and maintaining strong collegial contacts and understanding how various stakeholder groups value and use services provided by Information Technology.
- Understand the support role and embrace the broader missions of Piedmont College;
- Encourage a strong sense of teamwork by active participation throughout Administration and Finance, developing a work ethic of cooperation with other external offices.
- Shape staff responsibilities and related training and ensure proper supervision, performance evaluations, and management of personnel issues.
- Build strong working relationships among IT and faculty, staff, management, vendors within the College by facilitating communication and resolving conflicts.
- Provides leadership and vision for the use of information technology as a critical component for the future of the college. Collaborates with college leadership and key stakeholders in identifying and implementing key IT initiatives.
- Assists in the development of the college-wide master, facilities and technology plans, with particular emphasis on ensuring the integrity and strategic development of the information/communications hardware infrastructure.
- Assist in the development and management of the IT budget, including capital and recurring expenses pertaining to ongoing and future projects.
- Coordinates the development and extension of administrative information technology, records management and network services with user departments throughout the college.
- Promotes innovative, efficient, effective and shared uses of information technology solutions across the college.
- Directs the planning, budgeting, operations and appraisal processes of the Information Technology Department.
- Develops and administers IT security strategies, policies and procedures, ensuring overall compliance with regulations for securing data records associated with students, personnel and financial records.
- Partner with departments to streamline processes and find technology solutions.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems/technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in management of higher education enterprise systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory issues related to security including but not limited to FERPA, HIPAA, PCI, and HEOA.
- Successful record of visionary leadership and excellence in Information Technologies.
- An effective project manager, change agent and innovative and forward thinking leader who can think strategically and translate into actionable plans.
- Knowledge of current and emerging information technologies, hardware and software, data security issues and use of social media.
- Ability to coordinate and integrate information technology systems development, enhancement and modifications from an overall information services perspective.
- Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Knowledge of business practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate with and understand the requirements of professional staff in area of specialty.
- Ability to direct multi-department technical and administrative staff.
- Ability to evaluate and assess IT systems and hardware/software proposals for technical merit, cost effectiveness and business application.
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
- Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.

- Must possess a valid Georgia drivers’ license and be eligible to drive institutional vehicles.
- On-site work is required.
Preferred Skills/Other Experiences - Master's degree in computer science, information systems/technology
- At least 10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Excellent supervisory management skills with a demonstrated record of developing staff and creating a positive work environment.
