Job Summary:
The Network Administrator is a full-time, benefited position whose primary responsibility is to enhance and optimize overall network performance by effectively managing and adjusting system configurations while ensuring reliable and uninterrupted connectivity across all campus facilities, thereby supporting the diverse needs of students, faculty, and staff in their daily operations and academic activities. They will not only manage secure protocols and login for the WIFI environment, but protect every layer of the networks across the campuses.
Principal Responsibilities and Results, KSA's
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – this position is exempt and is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. Network Administration and Management – Ensure effective network administration and management by overseeing, maintaining, and optimizing the college’s network infrastructure, while implementing upgrades as needed.
Oversee daily operations of the network infrastructure.
Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points.
Monitor network performance and optimize configurations.
Implement network upgrades and enhancements as needed.
Maintain an inventory of network devices and software.
Troubleshooting and Support – Provide comprehensive troubleshooting and support diagnosing and resolving network issues, assisting end-users, and implementing solutions to maintain uninterrupted network functionality.
Diagnose and resolve network issues promptly.
Provide technical support to staff and students for network-related queries.
Document troubleshooting procedures and solutions for future reference.
Collaborate with IT staff to escalate and resolve complex issues.
Network Security – Enhance network security by monitoring, identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security protocols, and responding to potential threats to protect the college’s data and infrastructure.
Develop and implement network security protocols and policies.
Monitor network for security breaches and vulnerabilities.
Conduct regular security audits and assessments.
Coordinate responses to security incidents and breaches.
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.
Project Planning and Implementation – Drive successful project planning and implementation by coordinating network-related initiatives, developing detailed project plans, allocating resources, and ensuring timely execution of tasks to meet college objectives.
Lead the planning and execution of network-related projects.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
Allocate resources and manage project timelines effectively.
Evaluate and select vendors for network hardware and software.
Report project status and outcomes to senior management.
Documentation and Training - Facilitate knowledge transfer by creating, updating, and distributing comprehensive documentation and training materials for network operations, ensuring ITS staff and end users are equipped with the necessary resources and information.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of network architecture and configurations.
Create user guides and training materials for staff and students.
Conduct training sessions on network usage and best practices.
Ensure documentation is kept up-to-date with system changes.
Gather feedback on training effectiveness and improve content as needed.
A willingness to stay current with emerging technologies and adapt to evolving network needs.

The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well

Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in network administration or management, preferably in an educational or multi-user environment.
Experience in network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
Experience with network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in network administration or management, particularly in an educational institution or large-scale environment.
Familiarity with cloud networking solutions and integration (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Additional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent.
Experience in leading network-related projects with a demonstrated ability to manage timelines and resources effectively.
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide junior IT staff effectively.
