Job Description:
Application Analyst supports, manages, and implements the university's enterprise applications. The Application Analyst takes ownership of requests from receipt to resolution using operational knowledge to seek out, research, and evaluate various solutions to provide to end users.
Position Hourly Range: $36.05 - $38.46
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates accountability in delivering the assigned task. Reports project Issues and accomplishments to the project manager.
Delivers a work product that meets project requirements as defined by the scope and stays within departmental guidelines for application configuration/development
Assists users and participates in the analysis and documentation of current and future needs and workflows through interviews and gathering data regarding regulatory requirements, operational procedures, and departmental policies
Works collaboratively with users in assigned areas to design and implement new or optimized enterprise applications.
Under general supervision, builds, designs, and documents the use of the institution's enterprise applications to meet best the institution's needs, including process flow documentation, project reporting, and other resource management.
Resolve support tickets related to end-user request
Performs advanced analysis, development, coding, testing, and documentation of computer systems and purchased integrated applications on multiple platforms for academic and/or business purposes, following systems development and project management procedures
Consults with staff and coordinates projects for the design and modification of complex and multi-faceted applications
Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for staff on enterprise applications
Follows systems development life-cycle techniques and utilizes joint application development processes and project management techniques, and specialized software packages/applications
Defines the scope and objectives for applications, along with constraints and system requirements
Analyzes and defines current organizational functions, processes, sources, and uses of information and other data to determine application needs and requirements
Conceptualizes, analyzes, designs, and programs highly diverse and complex programs for administrative and academic users
Documents workflow using organization and data flow charts and other related materials
Identifies and documents business processes and workflow that contribute to enhanced information flow by interviewing users, generating process documentation, and proposing process solutions
Provides support to applications encompassing data integration
Troubleshoots application and database errors/problems to enhance applications
Organizes the features included in applications by determining the sequence of detailed operations, determining program outcomes, and designing internal program processes
Coordinates and implements data conversions and transitions from old to new systems using extract, transform, and load processes
Provides advanced technical support, problem resolution, and data research for assigned end users
In conjunction with users, isolates problems from symptoms, determines alternatives, and develops, and implements solutions
If the problem is user error, work with staff to improve user instructions or train for better understanding
Works with external agencies, independent contractors, vendors, and organizations on technology services, applications, and/or data requirements
Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Knowledge:
Strong problem-solving and proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate project status and help in departmental projects.
Proven experience in developing reports and dashboards for data analytics.
High-level competency in Excel (macros, pivot tables, etc.).
Requires knowledge of program development techniques, procedures, tools, and documentation requirements, as well as software systems development life cycles
Requires knowledge of principles and procedures of applications and databases, including analysis and design techniques
Requires well-developed human relations skills to facilitate small group processes, conduct training, provide technical support, and apply understandable lines of questioning when trying to understand department needs or problems
Requires the ability to analyze technical problems and to develop and apply appropriate solutions
Requires the ability to discuss technical information with users, discern their needs, improve programs, etc.
Abilities and Skills:
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a complex environment

Ability to analyze existing systems and processes to identify areas of opportunity

A willingness to travel to either campus to provide end-user assistance and troubleshooting if needed
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline degree or combined experience is preferred.
Experience:
2 to 5 years of advanced experience in application requirement gathering, analysis, design, implementation or coding, testing, deployment, maintenance, and support.
Advance experience with one or more of the following Enterprise Applications: Enterprise Relational Planning (ERP) systems, document management software, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), or Student Information Service (SIS)
Experience with higher education preferred
