Job Title: HPC Application Designer

Responsibilities:

The application designer will design and support the system software stack for the Research Computing Center (RCC) systems. The system software stack includes, but is not limited to, applications for server deployment, configuration management tools, authentication services, configuring and maintaining the software build environments, and being responsible for all data transfer tools. This position will be part of the System's team but will work closely with the RCC application team. This position will also work with FSU researchers in designing scientific workflows and application.

The administrator is responsible for the system software stack at RCC. Their tasks include installing, patching, and upgrading all system software. Also, the administrator will assist with diagnosing or deploying the physical or virtual servers or containers for these services.

Assist the application team in building the scientific software stack. This support includes designing and maintaining the software build infrastructure and training the application team members.

Stay abreast of Linux system stack software, including novel techniques like container deployment and cloud computing.

The position will assist the system team administrators with maintaining and (re)writing the rules in the software configuration management.

Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management.  Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.

Primarily Remote - This position has been designated as eligible for primarily remote based on the current position/job functions. Employees are required to live in the Tallahassee area and report to campus as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.
