The Educational Technologist works directly with students, staff, and faculty to provide support, training, and evaluation of education technology tools in academic and Continuing Education (CE) courses.
Essential Functions:
Provide educational technology support and training to faculty, staff, and students in academic departments and participants registered for Continuing Education (CE) programs, while maintaining a high level of customer service
Manage student enrollment in our learning management system (LMS) for academic courses
Maintain the student educational technology onboarding process, including growth of the college’s online LMS onboarding courses
Support faculty onboarding process related to educational technology tools and courses
Provide LMS support for Continuing Education online courses
Contribute to the creation, organization and use of our document library and training materials
Serve as primary support for video-centric e-learning and web conferencing tools
Manage quality assurance of the functionality of course offerings through the LMS
Document and analyze the operations, effectiveness, and feedback of Educational Technology programs
Answer support tickets regarding education technology
Be an administrator to all educational technology tools and apply experience and training to maintaining the operation of assigned systems
Assist in the implementation and transition to new education technology vendors
Edit videos for courses as assigned
Keep up to date with emerging technologies
Research and evaluate new educational technology tools that might be useful for WJC
Other duties as instructed or assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
2+ years of experience in Educational/Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field, preferred
High level of professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm
Passion about technology in education and how it impacts the future of higher education
Patient and effective in 1 on 1 and small group consultations/trainings with faculty, students, and staff.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to complete projects with minimal supervision
Ability to work independently and on a team
Ability to work well under time pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, web-based collaboration tools, video creation tools, and web conferencing tools
Experience with Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) preferred
Some familiarity with project management methods preferred
Applicant must be able to assume employment in the U.S. without College sponsorship
