The ideal candidate will design, configure, analyze, and maintain functional and secure networks related to the infrastructure and telephony system within a multi-campus environment. The Network Engineer will assist in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting our growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable and highly available network architectures that meet the university's objectives. The candidate must be willing to adhere to occasional non-standard working hours and be able to respond to emergency outages.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree plus three to four years of network engineering experience in managing a large complex organization. Some systems administration is required in a complex multi-server, multi-site environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver license with good driving record: must be insurable.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
Experience supporting networks (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points and controllers, working experience with Cisco, Meraki, Aruba and Fortinet devices a plus)
Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds, PRTG, NDT)
In-depth understanding of communication protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF) networking, DNS/DHCP, Internet technologies
Proficient with TDM and IP Telephony
Proficient with Windows Server OS
Proficient with Enterprise Security Best Practices
Proficient with Multi-tiered Application Architectures and Deployments
Ability to identify and adapt to skills including client support, training, resource and project management, administration and systems integration.
Ability to travel between campuses in performance of job duties.
Dependability, flexibility and willingness to adhere to non-standard work schedule mandatory. This position is a 24×7×365 support position which includes rotating on call support responsibilities.
Excellent project management skills and understanding of the systems lifecycle is very important to this position. You will be held accountable for on-schedule, non-disruptive deployments and minimal service outages.
Ability to deliver deployments on time, take direction from supervisors and/or senior technical staff, and work without supervision when applicable
Understand that staying educated and current on technology will be as much of a job requirement as effectively administering your systems. You will be encouraged and rewarded for completing continuing education such as industry certifications or self-study programs.
Physical Requirements:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Activity includes keyboarding, using a computer mouse, and viewing a computer screen for most of the workday. Must be able to periodically perform standing and/or sitting, walking, lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, talking and hearing. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal, reading printed materials, and discerning fine print. Must be able to operate in a seated desk environment for the majority of the workday. Subject to both environmental conditions; activities occur inside and outside.
Essential Functions:
Install, configure, support and troubleshoot routers, firewalls and switches.
Experience in physical layer technologies (data cabling, UPS and power systems, server room requirements, etc.)
Monitor network performance and integrity
Maintain and improve the college’s network and enterprise systems in order to provide maximum performance and reliability.
Maintain, upgrade, and optimize University PBX/VOIP Telephone System.
Assist in maintenance and installation of UPS Battery Backup Systems
Assist network engineers with installation and operation of switching and routing equipment
Provide support for critical systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when on-call on a rotational basis.
Configure & trouble shoot issues with routers, and switches.
Work independently and perform the highest quality work in support of critical applications.
Maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server OS in a VMWare environment
