We anticipate paying in the salary range of mid $70Ks to high $80K's annually. Actual salary and title will depend on experience and qualifications.
The Executive Producer for Education leads an award-winning team of education producers in the creation of educational classroom media content aligned to K-12 state standards, primarily for upper elementary and middle school learners focusing on Wisconsin's diverse history, people, and cultures. This position requires an innovative vision for educational multimedia production; leadership and management skills; creativity; excellent writing skills; superb communication; independent thought and editorial judgment; flexibility, and the ability to lead and participate in teams. The Education EP maintains and manages production projects across various subject areas (social studies, the arts, science, and English language arts). They oversee multi-media production including the creation of videos, books, image galleries, and educator guides. They design for digital distribution, including website and multi-platform publishing. They plan strategically in the current media environment, employing a participatory, inclusive production model that invites participation from educators, cultural advisors, partner organizations, and other stakeholders in the development of the resources. They innovate in a joyful, creative work environment, powered by curiosity. This is a leadership and supervisory position that reports to the Director of Education.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership for broadcast and/or digital content, programs or projects and their teams, including strategic and long-range planning, evaluation and development of pitches and content, staff performance coaching and feedback, creating and communicating goals to staff, and coordinating production, administration, procedures and agreements.
10% Directs various administrative aspects that may include booking guests for interviews, maintaining team schedules and deadlines, and creating and/or maintaining program and/or project budgets
25% Supervises the work of hosts, producers, reporters and/or support staff for the production of broadcast and/or digital content. May serve as back-up host or fill-in for producers when necessary
15% Serves as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders. Collaborates with other content creators in pre-production through post-production processes
10% Leads editorial planning meetings and generates program ideas for segments, shows, and digital projects
10% Monitors and evaluates program content and employs editorial judgement to generate program ideas, and create, write, and edit content
15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
10% Develops and sustains relationships with organizational partners, subject area experts, cultural advisors, colleagues across PBS, and/or other collaborators to meet educational integrity and standards for the classroom media collections we create
5% Supports development and fundraising for education work
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS -Professional video production experience including producing, script writing, and field production, with a demonstrated understanding of effective and creative use of voice-over, soundbites, video, music, sound design and graphic elements to create engaging video projects. -Proven leadership and management skills. Has the ability to provide strategic planning for projects, effective editorial guidance, coaching, supervision, and evaluation of the work of others. -Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to effectively develop and manage several projects simultaneously, including creating and following production budgets and timelines and consistently meeting deadlines. -Experience working successfully with partner organizations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -Experience designing and producing for multi-media digital distribution. This could include website publishing, multi-platform publishing, and/or overseeing media creation in multiple formats. -Experience clearing media rights and overseeing production-related contracts. -Experience with archive research for information and media to be used in productions. -Professional experience in K-12 education. -Identification with the mission and purpose of public media.
