The Director is a foundational member of the new cross-campus leadership team that the Deans of Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC) and Fordham College at Rose Hill (FCRH) are building to further the increasingly collaborative work of the individual Deans and Colleges. An immediate priority will be overseeing the day-to-day management, ongoing development and long-term planning for the Colleges’ signature Serving the City internship program. The Director reports to the Deans of FCLC and FCRH.
The Director is a strategic thinker and collaborative leader with a sound understanding of higher education who possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and an ability to maintain discretion regarding disclosure and dissemination of sensitive information. The Director must be able to act independently, effectively, and diplomatically in an academic environment, and be committed to furthering the goals of Jesuit education by building trusting relationships with a broad range of individuals within the College, across the University, and beyond.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Director of Administration to play a pivotal role in fostering smooth operations and managing personnel-related matters. This role requires a strong ability to handle multiple responsibilities, collaborate across areas and campuses, and ensure the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our operations in the interest of better serving our students.
Essential Functions
Administration, Communication, and Systems Management
In the immediate term, provides leadership for the Serving the City internship program and develops a sustainable plan for building and strengthening the program to improve impact.
Collaborates with teams throughout the university (e.g., Admissions, Marketing, Academic Departments, Development) to identify and address communication needs and opportunities
Facilitates information flow throughout the Colleges and with audiences throughout and beyond the university (e.g., preparing or overseeing the preparation of: weekly student newsletters, annual and interim reports, other internal and external communications as needed on behalf of the Deans).
Manages hiring and onboarding for all administrative and clerical positions in the Deans’ offices, working closely with the Provost’s Office, HR, and other offices as necessary on all
Provides leadership and supervision for clerical staff throughout FCLC (including the Dean’s Office and academic departments / programs), in the FCRH Dean’s Office, and in the joint Fordham College Advising Center.
Develops, oversees, and helps troubleshoot administrative systems (e.g., processes for payments and purchases, schedule-keeping, establishing and monitoring corporate emails, acquiring and maintaining office equipment, etc).
Prepares analytic reports using internal data
As delegated by the Deans and others, provide tactical management for key programs and initiatives including but not limited to the Serving the City program and the undergraduate research programs.
Develops strong relationships with key stakeholders across the University to promote the effective attainment of College and University goals.
Board and Council Management
Serves as primary point of contact for the FCLC Board of Advisors and FCRH Board of Visitors, collaborating with the Deans and with the university Development office to schedule and organize meetings, communicate agendas, support regular outreach to board members, and record minutes.
Serves as primary point of contact for FCLC and FCRH College Councils; responsibilities include scheduling meetings, communicating agendas and other information; maintaining attendee lists; and recording minutes.
Budget and Resource Management
Serves as Deans’ Office point person for matters related to space, facilities, equipment, supplies, and software platforms.
Assists the FCLC Dean with budget management:
Contributes to the development and management of the College budget;
Attends budget meetings with the Dean;
Oversees day-to-day financial operations of the college and serves as liaison to university financial offices.
Maintains accounts of Dean’s Office expenditures, working closely with the Senior Executive Secretaries who process all financial paperwork.
Approves fiscal transactions, with Dean’s oversight.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
A college or university degree in a related field
Minimum seven years of work experience in Higher Education with increasing responsibility

Expert proficiency with standard office equipment and software (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Adobe)
Highly organized and able to work independently and proactively with limited supervision
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure while handling multiple, shifting, high, and competing priorities
Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize daily workflow
Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively communicate with the University community and beyond
Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the University – both internal and external

Masters Degree
Experience with software including Tableau, Banner, Concur, and other common office and higher education applications
Minimum Starting Salary: $100,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $130,000
