Job Purpose: The Department Chair, in collaboration with the Dean of Learning and Instruction, ensures the workforce relevancy, quality, and continuous improvement of Calbright’s Technology Programs.
Location: Remote, various locations throughout California
Salary Range: Faculty salary schedule placement (depending on qualification and education) + 15% $90,329.05 - $124,486.35

Position Overview
The Department Chair position supports Calbright College’s mission of offering competency-based programs for the adult learner through high-impact andrological practices in online, skills-based curriculum and assessment. The Department Chair, in collaboration with the Dean of Learning and Instruction, ensures the workforce relevancy, quality, and continuous improvement of Technology Programs. The Department Chair will provide domain-level leadership to cross-functional faculty teams, have in-depth knowledge of workforce related outcomes, and be responsible for student success and program performance outcomes.
The Department Chair must be skillful in understanding industry needs, skill-based curriculum planning and analysis, faculty development, data gathering and reporting, and developing internal and external relationships. The Department Chair will work with cross-functional leadership to help establish operational objectives and to positively impact student outcomes, program quality, and enrollment growth within the discipline programs.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the role and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed within the scope of work.
Leads program-level weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc meetings to review program quality, continuous improvement, and student success metrics and data.
Ensures program initiatives and decisions are aligned with and serve Calbright’s mission and vision.
Teaches in the appropriate and approved discipline
Partner with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and improve the student experience using an equity-centered design approach.
Reviews and monitors student and course feedback to ensure the student voice is represented and provides recommendations for content and program improvement.
Leads with a data-informed mindset to validate quality, analyze student outcomes data, and contribute to trend analysis and metric tracking across programs.
Works with cross-functional teams to ensure program outcomes, assessment measures, and course content is rigorous, responsive, and relevant to workforce skills and needs.
Ensure full time and part time faculty are prepared to support pilot launch and implementation of all programs and set requirements for quality and effective engagement.
Implement processes and systems that will support program quality review leading to student success through cross-functional teams across multiple departments.
Participates in ongoing involvement in external professional, regulatory, and/or accreditation organizations and professional certifications including but not limited to Department Workforce Advisory Boards.
Selects subject matter experts (external professionals) to serve on curriculum and program development projects.
Perform other related duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.

Minimum Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in one or more Technology discipline areas and 3 years of industry experience.
Remains current in the discipline area, holding relevant certifications as appropriate.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with skill-based or competency-based curriculum.
Knowledge of adult learning theory or online teaching experience.
A combination of three years of increasingly responsible experience in learning and instruction, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility in learning and instruction.
Working Conditions and Travel
Calbright College is a statewide online college where all instruction and support are done via various online technologies both in person and remotely. Calbright College has administrative offices in Sacramento available for use. When working remotely, employees should be able and willing to use digital communication tools as used by the college, and have the ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

Requires the ability to function in a remote online instructional environment performing work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to use hearing and speech to make presentations to groups and carry on conversations over the phone and in-person. Requires near visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens. Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
