The University of Maine System is accepting applications for a Senior Web Application Developer I to work with the UMS Web Applications Development Team. This team is a small group located across the state who are responsible for development of custom applications, integrations, and ETL processes for the University of Maine System. Our primary duty is to create, update, and maintain functional pieces of software that meet the needs of the UMS community. This includes everything from moving data to extending existing software or writing entirely new software from scratch.
The ideal candidate will be experienced with Java/Jakarta EE, Javascript front and back end, PHP/WordPress, and database driven full stack application development. They will work well as part of a team and adjust quickly to different tool sets and architectures.
This position supports fully remote / work-from-home employees and is not dependent upon a specific location. Office space on a University System campus location may also be provided if desired.
Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the annual salary range is mid to upper $60's plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Three to five years of experience as an Analyst Programmer, or equivalent programming/ analysis position.
Three or more years’ experience writing secure web applications.
Experience with Content Management Systems used at the University of Maine System such as WordPress, or a portal application such as Liferay.
