What We Are Looking For
The Academic (Technology) Consultant - HSB Technology Center helps support the mission of Baylor University by providing technology consultation and support for HSB Technology Center services. You will primarily serve the faculty, staff and students in the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University.
The job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
A Bachelors degree, three years of relevant experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Bachelors degree and four years of relevant experience are preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Must be comfortable with and have a good working knowledge of a variety of different technologies
Should have experience with Windows operating systems (Mac operating systems a plus)
Should have experience with the use of various audio-visual technologies, such as projectors, displays, control systems, audio, etc.
Must be comfortable with using various web-based platforms for data entry, monitoring and reporting
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Should be analytical and a good problem solver
Should be able to multi-task and prioritize
What You Will Do
This position provides technology consultation and support for HSB Technology Center services. You will primarily serve the faculty (approx. 180), staff (approx. 60) and students (approx. 4,000) in the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University. You will also serve many guests, both university and community wide, with various different events and conferences hosted on the Foster Campus.
The successful candidate will be responsible for consultation, direct assistance and the proactive and reactive support of services provided by the Hankamer School of Business (HSB) Technology Center to faculty, staff and students by:
Providing rapid response and consultation for tier-one technology issues and requests reported by faculty, staff or students
Monitoring reporting systems to provide pro-active response when possible
Escalating issues and requests to appropriate staff as needed
Creating and maintaining self-help and quick response guides to improve response and effectiveness
Assisting Technology Center team with equipment/supply inventory maintenance and tracking
Maintaining CBORD (secure door access) system open/close door schedules for events, classes and meetings
Assisting with providing access for control list groups for over 200 ID card swipe accessible building spaces
Providing special situation access support for reservation system conference rooms, team rooms, check-out mobile readers, and temporary ID cards for use in events and competitions
Creating and maintaining a system to crosscheck all door schedule entries on a daily basis to ensure no lapse in access to rooms for guests
Providing a professional customer-focused attitude in order to build, maintain and foster great working relationships with faculty, staff and students
Communicating and documenting issues and resolutions internally (within the department) and externally (with faculty/staff/students-our customers)
Assisting with other various facility related technologies and needs.
Performing other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
