The Associate Director for the Web Platforms/Services Team leads a team of 30+ professionals that provide enterprise-scale services that enable the creation of standards-based websites, web applications, and digital experiences for a wide variety of stakeholders at UW–Madison and across UW System campuses as well as some other higher education campuses in the nation. There are two managers who work within the team to directly lead staff and supervise day to day projects and operations.
The Associate Director leads a wide range of enterprise IT services and strategic priorities so requires a collaborative mindset, a strong sense of ownership, and an individual who is highly motivated, energetic, and eager to learn. We are looking for someone with experience with leading people, managing projects or products, and guiding organizational strategy.
Duties include:
Strategic planning in a highly distributed IT environment
Sponsorship of high profile IT initiatives
Mentoring & coaching managers and Service Owners to build strong teams
Serving as the liaison for internal and external stakeholders for the team’s portfolio of services
Leading the ongoing development and curation of a positive team culture
Responsibility for team goals and outcomes

Required Qualifications -Formal and successful management experience supervising and developing professional employees. -Leadership experience delivering client-centered services, including organizational change leadership to improve processes and better support staff and customers, and the ability to exercise influence, build effective and positive partnerships and achieve consensus. -Ability to successfully communicate with senior or executive-level audiences on complex information, including excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills to publicly represent a technical service. -Experience building and setting a vision for a team and/or service(s) while managing ongoing service delivery and operations. -Demonstrated commitment to improving equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications -Ability to independently initiate programs and practices that promote a positive team culture, employee engagement, and/or high quality service outcomes. -Demonstrated experience taking initiative and ownership. -Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines, and managing partner and stakeholder expectations including the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders, engineers, and leadership regarding goals, service roadmap, and prioritization (preferably in an IT background)
