The School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director of Learning Technologies. This position provides a critical role in the enhancement of student education and technical support for UWSoN faculty and staff. This position provides excellent client services and support, maintains maximum uptime, and provides a secure and friendly environment that is conducive to advancing education. This position plays a key role in supporting the ongoing mission and strategic plan of the School of Nursing, ensuring alignment between the UWSoN initiatives, and those designated and performed by UW-IT. The Assistant Director of Learning Technologies must stay abreast of media and learning technology changes and make appropriate recommendations that advance the SoN’s initiative. This position requires a commitment to client service, the ability to work collaboratively in a changing environment, and the skill to work with members of the University community (faculty, staff, and students) who have diverse technology skills.
MANAGEMENT & OPERATIONS:
Manage day to day operations of the Learning Technologies team ensuring standards, policies, practices, and procedures necessary to ensure the highest level of customer service for SoN faculty, staff, and students are covered.
Work with the Director of Learning Technologies to develop content production projects and content generation standardizations
Act as project lead on mid-level projects
Provides regular status reports on assigned projects
Manage the media team (for the School of Nursing faculty, staff, and student’s needs, that provides: *Support for everyday course recording and streaming *Media and content production *Escalation to subject matter experts or specialized support *Escalation to UWIT, SoN IT networking, and systems engineering by interfacing with other UW units (such as UW Information Technology) and external services partners
Grow SoN Media offerings to include emerging technologies and opportunities such 360 video, virtual reality and the new Health Sciences Building spaces.
Supervise and manage media team staff and student employees, which includes hiring, development, team building, annual performance evaluations, and corrective action as needed.
Provide education, outreach programs, and training for School of Nursing faculty, staff, students, and research constituents in general information technology principles, unique tools utilized by the School of Nursing and affiliates as required.
Collaborate with and manage staff who provide customer service, eLearning service, and hardware support service in complex research and academic environments made up of over 600 faculty, staff, and students.
Ensure SoN Media services are configured to meet or exceed UW Security and Compliance standards. This includes understanding and complying with FERPA, HIPAA, Human Subjects IRB, and other Federal, State, and University policies.
Manage and track work assignments for professional staff, classified staff, and student positions.
LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION:
Assist in the development of strategic LT plans, including improvements and new initiatives.
Communicate LT issues, needs, and recommendations to the School of Nursing and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with other LT stakeholders within the SON (School of Nursing), across campus, and at other academic institutions to establish LT best practices, formulate policies, and strengthen client relationships.
Remain current with developments in learning technologies, media production and emerging technologies.
Apply knowledge of the UW (UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON) and SoN to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization; furnish decision-makers with well-researched solutions to continual and non-recurring challenges facing the organization.
Communicate regularly with the SoN community around information and events of interest, software changes, service changes or enhancements, and training.
Ensure the configuration of the SoN’s media offering meet or exceed both UW Security Standards and current best practices
PROJECT MANAGEMENT/ PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
Ensure the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of services provided by the Service Desk by designing, developing, and implementing procedures that are clear and repeatable, and are reviewed and maintained through continual service improvement.
Maintain and develop processes that include incident, request, change, and release management to support the School of Nursing's IT needs. The processes should be based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
Provide an education and training program in foundational IT processes so that they are the norm, yet are supportive of change and can handle exceptions.
Develop metrics and measures to represent quantity and quality of service.
Utilize IT project and service management systems to ensure the success of School of Nursing Information Technology initiatives.

Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Media production, Education, Instructional Design or a related field OR an equivalent combination of experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement AND Four to five years of experience
Four or more years of experience producing learning content in a complex environment, at least one of those years in lead experience
Ability to work independently with a high degree of integrity, reliability, accuracy, and productivity
Previous employee management and day-to-day supervisory experience, including hiring, development, team building, annual performance evaluations, and corrective action.
A demonstrated commitment to supportive and effective team leadership Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technology to administrative and non-technical audiences.
A demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity, and the ability to develop working relationships with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds
Equivalent education and experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
