The School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a Learning Technologist. Reporting to the Director of Learning Technologies, the Learning Technologist helps support the learning experiences for both faculty and students for the School of Nursing by supporting the learning technologies behind the teaching effort. This position works directly with faculty and staff and is responsible for day-to-day technical and training support for multiple eLearning platforms including, learning management systems, lecture capture platforms, eLearning authoring tools, audience response systems and online meeting systems. In addition, the position regularly assist with the school-wide implementation of a standard LMS course template. The Learning Technologist, under the guidance of the Director, also helps research, problem-solve, and provide novel approaches to improve the teaching effort at the School of Nursing through learning technologies.
Position responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Instructional Technology Operations •Responsible for management and operational support for School of Nursing online LMS system (Canvas) •Responsible for management of technical and operational support of learning technology applications including: online assessment platforms, audience response applications and general webinar support. •Responsible for one-on-one support to faculty in support of technology use in their course(s) and partner with faculty to provide creative and effective learning technology solutions that meet instructional goals •Serves as point person of escalation, resolution and corrective action for support issues, which may include interaction with UWIT support services; •Takes point with creation and implementation with the school-wide standard LMS template and layout •Triage, assess and resolve technical support issues. Collaborate with other senior level specialists to problem-solve when needed. •Manages the implementation of new applications and learning technology tools •Develop and deliver instructional support materials for subject matter experts such as how-to guides for training learning technology platforms, layout development, management, and delivery •Identify and enact opportunities for process and quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, defects, and suggested enhancements.
Collaborative Project Work •As part of the team under the general direction of the Director of Learning Technologies, assist in building the appropriate level of technology support processes to help SoN's online education initiatives, including providing expertise and support to LMS users, identification and validation of course improvements, and LMS content migration. •As part of a team, research, pilot and deploy emerging technologies relevant to higher education. This includes collaborating with faculty and school partners to leverage and/or deploy the learning technologies. •Participation in a small, agile “tiger team” in effort to quickly answer targeted Learning and Information Technologies questions. •Assist with researching, brainstorming and implementation of engaging learning solutions.
MISCELLANEOUS •Perform other duties as required to support the ongoing mission and strategic plans of the School

REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Media or related field AND at least 1 year of applicable work experience. •1-3 years work experience with learning technologies •Direct-experience with learning platform systems (e.g. LMS, Lecture Capture, audience response systems and Zoom, or similar) •Demonstrated ability to problem solve learning technology issues
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
DESIRED: •Master's degree in education, communication, instructional design, education media, education technology or a related field •Experience working within higher education institutions •Knowledge of instructional design and a variety of pedagogical models
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Schedule will follow a standard work week, Monday-Friday, with in-person office hours; virtual office during COVID period. At times of high productivity or deadline-driven projects, additional hours (early morning, evening, and/or weekend) may be necessary to accomplish goals.
