The CLO serves as a senior member of the online programs team and directs all eLearning initiatives within Gies Business. This includes managing, planning, directing, and evaluating the strategic initiatives in graduate and undergraduate teaching and learning as well as in professional development and lifelong learning programs for the college and for the professional development for faculty and staff. This position is responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of scientific methods, instructional strategies, and learning technologies in the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities, including but not limited to: face to face meetings and synchronous/asynchronous eLearning. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership in innovations in teaching and learning Identify changes in the academic learning, and in the professional development environments and evaluate and adjust college and departmental plans and processes accordingly Manage large-scale instructional design projects. Conducts needs assessments, task analysis, and or content analysis to understand skill gaps and determine appropriate learning development solutions. Recruit, lead and guide the incorporation of learning theories (pedagogy and andragogy) that promote student success and learning cognition, including the incorporation of cognitive, as well as non-cognitive and 21st century skills into innovative approaches Leverage learning science to address instructional challenges and create environments that enable robust learning. Plays a critical role in identifying and developing platforms that drive sustainable, scalable, and research-driven learning innovation, recommending, evaluating and maintaining the use of learning management system and learning environments that ensures effective learning outcomes Provide leadership in the design of research-based pilots and iterative design and partner with a cross-functional teams Maintain knowledge of instructional technologies and latest training and development research by attending workshops? reviewing professional publications? establishing personal networks participating in professional societies; publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
