Department: Academic Technology Services - Instructional Technology Support Services Department Description: Academic Technology Services (ATS) delivers and supports educational technology to inspire a culture of lifelong learning among students, staff and faculty. We work closely with faculty to develop online and hybrid courses and to utilize BeachBoard, the campus learning management system. In addition, ATS builds and maintains technology enhanced classrooms, provides desktop support for staff in the Division of Academic Affairs, and manages enterprise-level software licenses. Time Base/Hours/Units per Week: Full-time/40 hours per week
Position Description: Under the direction of the Director of Instructional Technology Support Services, the LMS Coordinator\Senior Administrator is responsible for supporting the vision of the University via the strategic technical configuration, maintenance and advancement of the Learning Management System (LMS). The incumbent is responsible for coordinating all services associated with the learning management system including administration, tool integration, and level 2 support to users. The Coordinator is responsible for optimizing LMS application performance, documenting standard operating procedures, troubleshooting LMS technical issues, acting as liaison between Academic Technology Services (ATS) and LMS related vendors, strategically gathering and disseminating reports, and performing LMS training. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our learning management system is designed to support the future needs of our campus. This includes ensuring the organizational structure of the system supports the optimal use of tools for learning analytics, accessibility, tracking learning outcomes, and other needs. This position has specific coordination responsibilities within ATS, as well as, with our internal campus partners.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of learning management system administration and educational technology. Basic knowledge of effective instructional uses of a learning management system such as BrightspaceTM. Innovative and solid communicator who will represent ATS to the University Community. The ability to connect the vital role that the LMS plays in student success. Demonstrated proficiency in customer service and strong interpersonal skills, preferably in a higher education environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills with individuals possessing varying degrees of technical proficiency. Evidence of being a proactive, collaborative problem-solver and team member. Evidence of taking project ownership and working independently to achieve expected goals. Ability to recognize and understand federal and state access laws that relate to making instructional technology accessible in accordance with the California State University's Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI). Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks is essential. Knowledge of steps to perform tool integrations into an LMS. Basic knowledge of full product development and implementation life cycle.

Education and Experience: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field such as system administration, instructional technology, education technology, and five years of related experience required. Three years of demonstrated success in administering, using, and supporting a learning management system, other instructional technology systems, or equivalent platforms required. Three years of experience in supervising staff in user support services required.
Preferred Qualifications: Five years supporting multiple instructional systems, including an LMS. Five years managing support staff. Demonstrated success in administering BrightspaceTM. Experience in the higher education environment. Experience providing training. Experience in gathering systems and support data and generating reports on system use and end-user support. Demonstrated ability to conduct a needs analysis, research and evaluate alternatives, and recommend new systems for adoption. Experience conducting successful pilot tests of potential new systems. Experience managing a system change at an institution.
