Bachelor’s Degree (Foreign equivalent or higher degree). Seven years of directly related, full-time strategic planning experience to include providing guidance and insight to a CIO and/or Senior level position. Experience serving as a spokesperson for an organization. Experience writing speeches for an executive. Management experience. Demonstrated experience working, collaborating, and establishing credibility and relationships with senior leadership, colleagues, and customers. Experience working in or with IT professionals.
Advanced Degree (Foreign equivalent or higher degree). Additional years of experience. Project management experience. Experience managing a budget. Marketing or fundraising experience.
The purpose of this position is to actively promote the Division’s image and be the strategic advisor to the SVP/Enterprise CIO. The Senior Director of IT Strategic Relations represents the CIO and their voice to serve internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Director is a strategic thinker, an effective influencer, has some degree of technical acumen and the ability to deeply understand our business and rapidly demonstrate the impact and value to the organization. This position will combine strategy and technology market when dealing with ambiguous and often complex problems. This position is an integral member of the operation and is responsible for producing and executing communication and provides oversight for the IT policy process.
Brief Description of Duties:
Determine, formulate and administer management policies and practices for the overall strategy of IT. Partner with leadership to develop and implement our vision and strategy throughout the Division. Serve on essential University-wide policy-making, proposing and planning committees for IT Strategy. Facilitate and establish long term and annual cycles for strategic planning. Participate in the development of University-wide strategic initiative planning and implementation with other DoIT leadership staff. Oversight for designing and executing strategic initiatives and operational programs in close partnership with the Enterprise CIO and Senior Leaders. Oversee projects that can range from product incubation and growth strategies to mergers & acquisitions to driving executive communication with stakeholders.
Provide strategic level guidance and insight to the Enterprise CIO. Establish, maintain and grow strong relationships with leadership. Develop documents and briefings to clearly and succinctly communicate issues and provide actionable recommendations as appropriate. Convert the vision of the Enterprise CIO and Senior Leaders into an actionable and executable plan. Analyze situations, pull and study any associated information and data, and derive the root cause of any challenge that may be impacting our ability to execute. Synthesize findings and transform that learning into recommended solutions to make rapid effective and efficient decisions.
Oversee the development and implementation of communication plans. Responsible for monitoring opportunities to advance the Division’s values and brand. Draft and edit communication plans. Oversees the release of products announcements and coordinates the organization’s response to media inquiries and requests. Oversee the Divisions online presence, so that all properties (including multiple websites, email campaigns, and online communities) are brand aligned, engaging and effective in achieving the Divisions goals. Oversee marketing campaigns that highlight and showcase the vision of the Division. Advise on managing reputational risk and responding to negative coverage.
Work with operational areas to ensure that notifications of service incidents are provided to the campus community in a timely and appropriate fashion. Oversee the overall strategy and direction events for the Division; manage events sponsored by the office of the CIO and the Division.
Manage budgets for the team consistent with campus and organizational goals. Ensure delivery of a suite of highly aligned services. Provide annual operating plan including annual budget
Oversee the IT Strategic Relations team. Develop and implement appropriate professional development and training programs for direct reports.
Outreach and professional development: Participate as appropriate in external professional activities, such as serving as a committee member, meeting or conference presenter, or author.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
