Carleton College is seeking a Director of Systems & Infrastructure who will provide strategic and operational direction for Carleton's core infrastructure and networking technologies team. He or she will work with the Chief Technology Officer, Information Technology Services (ITS) leadership peers, ITS staff, and on-campus and off-campus consortial partners to design and maintain a high performing technology infrastructure that serves the needs of the entire campus.
The Carleton ITS team of 40 professional staff members supports a campus of 800 employees and 2000 students. The new Director will lead an experienced team of 7 members and will be a working manager with system administration duties and on-call responsibility one week per month. The team is in the early stages of a network redesign, a VoIP implementation and piloting GCP & AWS, and is seeking a leader to guide these and other forward-thinking projects. The ideal candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree plus 5-10 years of technical experience and 2-5 years of management experience and will have strong interpersonal, communication and management skills. Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in computer science or a related field, skill in Linux and a strong curiosity about emerging technologies.
