ROLE of the POSITION
The Manager of IT Operations Support provides leadership and operational direction for the IT Operations Support unit within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The Manager is responsible for oversight and direct management of administrative staff, ensuring procedures and processes are in alignment with support requirements and agreed upon service levels, communicating service-impacting events, and for the management and planning of operations support deliverables. The Manager must also demonstrate a commitment to service as an organizational value and be able to assist staff in reflecting the value of service in day-to-day activities. The Manager is actively involved in service strategy, design, transition, and operational planning and execution. The incumbent also contributes to project planning which includes business analysis, resource management, and communication. The Manager is also responsible for providing appropriate metrics and reports for maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of services and to inform improvement plans.
Under the leadership of the Manager, the IT Operations Support unit provides asset, inventory, space, and stock management; procurement and contracts support; front office reception; and assistance with general administrative services such as maintenance of OIT carts. The IT Operations Support Manager provides oversight on processes and workflows intended to provide high quality delivery of services, determine and communicate service requirements, and determine metrics to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of services provided.
Education: This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
Experience: Five or more years of related professional experience with at least three years of experience supervising support staff in a technical environment.
Experience with procurement and asset management in a higher education environment preferred. Certified Information Technology Asset Manager (CITAM) is also preferred.
The incumbent must have specific skill and knowledge in the following areas:
Experience as a manager or supervisor of administrative support professionals and projects within a technology environment.

Excellent customer service skills as demonstrated by the ability to work directly with constituents and vendors to understand and resolve functional and/or technical issues and concerns and meet customer needs.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals, including senior technical and non-technical leadership.
Able to recruit, hire, and retain a diverse staff with the qualities needed to advance the technical, service, and cultural goals of the unit.
Planning and Priority Management
Experience in preparing project plans that reflect stakeholder needs and leading project implementation teams that include both technical and functional team members.
Experience that reflects the ability to: be flexible, provide realistic resource requirements, develop methods for prioritizing ever-changing needs, create measurable objectives, and be accountable.
The ability to prioritize multiple requests for services from a broad constituent base including: help requests, projects, outages, incidents, etc.
Emerging Technologies Relevant to the Provision of Operations Support
Experience developing and maintaining vendor relationships to ensure: purchase of appropriate products and services; reasonable prices; and excellent service and support.
Able to stay abreast of emerging technologies to keep the university as close to state-of-the-art as feasible.
Interpersonal Skills and Communication
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with non-technical and technical audiences.

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. The position is contingent upon funding with a minimum starting salary of $81,000.
