At Southern Methodist University, the IT Project Manager will be part of the Project Management Office (PMO) within Office of Information Technology (OIT). Under general direction, the candidate will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and supporting multiple OIT projects - from project initiation to completion. This position will work with cross functional teams across campus to meet business objectives.
Project Management - Lead and manage all aspects of multiple projects including defining project goals, objectives, scope, schedule estimates, resources and cost. Managing and coaching the project team as needed.
Communication - Effectively coordinate and communicate progress communication among project teams, customers, and appropriate level of management.
Risk Awareness - Pro-actively identify and analyze project risks, plan and implement risk responses.
Relationship Building - Develop strong relationships with all project stakeholders.
Other Duties - Business Process Analysis, System Analysis, Team Dynamix administration, and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree and 1 year of relevant experience is required for this position. A Master's degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration is preferred.
Previous experience working with faculty and in higher education is desired. PMP or PMIO-ACI certification is also preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and be adept at customer service. Problem solving and time management are key. Organizational and planning skills are a must, as is a strong attention to detail.
Candidate should have knowledge and understanding of PMBOK based principles and practices. Experience with MS Office and Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool such as Team Dynamix is strongly desired.
This position requires the ability to stand, walk for long distances, and sit for long periods of time.
