Join University Technology Services as an HPC Systems Engineer on the Technical Architecture team, reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services. Your work will provide computational and research solutions for scientific fields, including chemistry, physics, biology, and data science / informatics.Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently as a contributing team member and routinely update director on results. Ability to contribute to group projects and work collaboratively as a member of a strong technical team. Ability to travel once or twice a year for education, professional development, or conferences. Willingness to earn industry certifications. Flexibility in work schedule; willingness to occasionally adjust work hours on Wednesdays between midnight and 8 A.M. for the maintenance window. No weekends except in emergencies; no on-call rotation. Must live in the area; this is not a remote work position. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Proven experience as an administrator or developer of large-scale HPC clusters.Advanced knowledge of Linux, including services, networking, and file systems.Demonstrated experience with software compiling, configuration management software and application installs. Experience with job scheduling, submission, and priority setting in an HPC environment.Experience with complex troubleshooting in a multi-platform environment. Experience with distributed and parallel file systems such as GPFS or other high performance file systems. Three or more years of experience in areas of enterprise technical architecture, design and integration, IT systems management, and systems administration.
