Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO will play an integral role in ensuring the delivery of technological programs and solutions to the institution that will enable the strategic objectives of the institution as a whole.
Founded in 1870, Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is one of the nation's top technological research universities and one of four universities of the University of Missouri (UM) System. Located in Rolla, MO, Missouri S&T enrolls nearly 9,000 students who come from all 50 states and more than 50 countries, is supported by over 500 faculty and 1,000 staff. Reporting directly to both the CFO for Missouri S&T and the Vice President for IT for the UM System the CIO at Missouri S&T will be asked to develop and implement a comprehensive information technology strategic plan. In collaboration with administrative, academic, student and UM leadership, the strategic plan should analyze and integrate existing and future technology solutions and IT delivered services.
The CIO must also be a strong leader and provide overall direction and oversight for the IT departments, including Campus Technology Support, Research Support Services, IT Business Services and Enterprise Services and Infrastructure. As a senior leader, Missouri S&T seeks an experienced IT executive, one who can foster a culture of professional development through mentoring throughout the information technology organization, as well as build and nurture an environment that rewards learning, creativity, discovery, ownership and innovation.
In order to be considered, candidates must have:
A master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, business, or a related field, and over 10 years of professional experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired).
Skill in analysis, personnel and financial management and communications is required.
Candidates with the following demonstrated experience will be given priority consideration:
Ability to define user needs, develop and implement information systems and ability to develop and mentor talent among the IT staff.
Experience with institutions of higher education is preferred including shared governance.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with vendor management and negotiation skills.
