The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a Director of Research Computing. This is a full-time 1.00 FTE, 12-month, fixed-term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) seeks a forward-looking, creative Information Technology (IT) professional to ensure the ongoing success and further development of the College’s research and instructional computing projects. The successful candidate will blend excellent technical IT experience, strong leadership skills, and enthusiasm for leveraging leading edge technology to advance science and teaching.
The Director of Research Computing (DRC) position is responsible for the technical, fiscal and administrative leadership for the College’s IT services. As a part of the CEOAS leadership team, the DRC takes an active role in advancing the College’s strategic and operational initiatives. The DRC collaborates with researchers, with teaching faculty, and with College and University decision makers to identify, recommend, prototype, develop, implement and maintain operational capabilities for all aspects of computing in support of faculty, staff and students. The DRC supervises a small team of technical support staff to carry out this mission. To be effective, the DRC must build strong collaborations with persons across a diverse range of identity and experiential backgrounds.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Information Services, Engineering, Science, or related field.
Five years of experience in the IT field.
Three years management experience.
Experience in tracking, coordinating and overseeing a wide range of ongoing projects.
Demonstrated experience supporting computational needs for a scientific research center or large research group.
Experience working with hardware and software vendors to gain insight in technological directions, and to direct purchasing decisions.
Leadership and team building skills.
