Colgate University seeks an accomplished, forward-thinking Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide thought leadership and strategic oversight for all facets of the university’s comprehensive information technology program. Colgate is a distinctive, vibrant, and welcoming place to learn, live, and develop. Now in its Bicentennial year, Colgate is ever driven to be the best — one of the world’s premier universities and the finest undergraduate institution in America. To this end, Colgate seeks a progressive information technology executive who can provide broad technical expertise and direction to help advance the University’s mission and objectives.
Reporting to the Provost and Dean of the Faculty, the CIO will support the academic mission and improve the overall operational effectiveness and efficiency of the University by leveraging technology. In doing so, the next CIO will foster innovation and excellence in teaching and learning, support world-class scholarship and creative works, and enhance systems to improve effectiveness and communication across all campus units. The ideal candidate will be a highly effective and broadly knowledgeable information technology leader with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated strengths in applications, infrastructure, project management, processes, and personnel. Along with a successful track record of progressively responsible senior information technology leadership experience, preferably in an academic setting of comparable size and complexity, the CIO will bring an expansive vision of technology in supporting the mission of an institution. The CIO oversees a staff of 45 and a budget of $10 million.

Colgate’s approximately 2,900 highly motivated, selectively admitted students achieve intellectually, athletically, and artistically, and are actively engaged in the world around them. It is an exciting moment at Colgate University, with a president in his third year, a newly formed senior administrative team, its Bicentennial celebration in full swing in 2018–19, and a capital campaign in the planning stages. The president has engaged the faculty, the staff and administration, and the Board of Trustees in a comprehensive planning effort designed to significantly strengthen Colgate across the totality of its mission.
