The Office of Digital Education reports to the Chancellors of the CU Denver and CU Anschutz Medical Campuses and is leveraging the combined expertise of these innovative units to advance the campus’ capabilities to support the needs of today’s employers. As such, the unit is entering a period of rapid evolution and growth. The Office of Digital Education reports to the Chancellors of the CU Denver and CU Anschutz Medical Campuses and was created in early 2018 to accelerate the growth of CU Online and digital education initiatives more broadly. The investment by the campuses in the Office of Digital Education, combined with recent commitments focused on online education by the University of Colorado Board of Regents, make this a rare and exciting opportunity.
The Director of Project Management & Engagement will lead the development, implementation, and project management strategy for new fully online program development launches and re-launches for the University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campuses. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Enterprise Development, this position will also serve as a launch consultant and liaison on behalf of the Office of Digital Education to the various schools/colleges. In addition, this position will be responsible for assessing the scope of each program initiative, assigning the appropriate resource allocation, and identifying any project support needed. This individual is fundamental in creating the project management timelines and infrastructure workstreams required for successful online program implementation. To be successful within this role, the candidate needs to have a combination of higher education knowledge and expertise preferably within the development of online courses and/programs coupled with robust project management experience within the two main methodologies.
This position reports to the Vice Chancellor of Enterprise Development. This position will supervise other project managers.
Examples of Work Performed:
Establishes online program launch processes, communication and organization
Collaborates with faculty, program administrators, marketing, recruitment, instructional design and course development, Office of Information Technology, and other departments on program launch initiatives and deliverables to ensure launch success
Provides academic insights and strategies which help enable the teams to deliver results that meet University of Colorado online program objectives
Creates buy in from multiple constituents in a collaborative cross-functional environment
Manages, hires and develops an in-house project management team
Serves as project lead within the Office of Digital Education on special projects and deliverables
Identifies the appropriate framework/approach needed for each initiative and provides oversight into initial team formation
Effectively communicates project status, risks, issues, and mitigation strategies to project stakeholders
Guides all documentation requirements needed for the specific project and online program launches
Performs other high-level project management initiatives as needed

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to this position.
5 years of experience in project management as a project lead, and 2 years of project portfolio experience.
5 years of experience working in higher education industry.
3 years of experience managing a team.
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in student affairs, counseling, or learning technologies.
Experience launching online programs.
Agile project management experience in strongly preferred

Knowledge of the various project management approaches/methodologies and facilitation tools to deliver on project documentation and management needs
Proven ability to manage complex projects under significant constraints.

Strong ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, as well as possessing specific communication skill-sets -

Proven ability to build and foster relationships with key faculty and administrators
