The ASU Technology office is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager that will play a critical ASU liaison role in managing the operations of the new ASU Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) by building network channels to communicate the CIC potential, tracking the business case for each individual center challenge, monitoring center challenge status (multiple concurrent challenges) and reporting metrics on the re-use of challenges output. This position will work with customers and partners (local municipalities, faculty, staff, students, etc.) involved in challenges as well as employees or partners of Amazon Web Services. This individual will ensure challenges are properly communicated, resourced and short and long-term schedules and goals are achieved. An ability to adapt quickly to varied customers and work cooperatively with varied subject matter experts is essential.
Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale projects through complete task definition and work requirement identification and mapping.
Oversees managers working on engagements within practice.
Reviews high-level deliverables across projects for adherence to budget, time and resource requirements.
Identifies out of scope and/or other obstacles to successful achievement of objective(s).
Implements engagement review and quality assurance procedures in accordance with established methodology to ensure profitable and successful execution of engagements as measured by goals and customer satisfaction.
Minimizes exposure and risk across multiple projects.
Manages scope and mitigates risk across projects.
Integrates financial data or cloud credit for multiple projects.
Manages to and achieves goals set for projects.
Serves as key participant in team and functional meetings.
Recommends strategies and develops technical specifications for large technical projects
Coordinates all aspects of planning, production, implementation and evaluation of complex technology development efforts.
Reviews the status reports of team members across projects and addresses issues as appropriate.
Confronts issues openly and quickly; utilizes tactful communication of sensitive information.
Mentors managers through formal channels; assesses training needs and selects training tools for team members.
Manages the development of project teams by ensuring that project tasks are in line with each Innovator's career interests.
Determines appropriate human resource skill mix requirement for optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Manages day-to-day interaction and expectations for multiple or large-scale projects. Anticipates needs and proposes alternative business solutions.
Maintains all necessary documentation related to assigned tasks, projects, changes, risks, issues, roadmaps, milestones, and status.
Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies.
Re?sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/ outcomes.
Continually seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen relationships.
Bachelor's degree in Technology or related field AND eight (8) years experience providing information technology services, which includes three (3) years as Project Manager and/or Project Lead experience; OR,Twelve (12) years experience providing information technology services, which includes three (3) years as Project Manager and/or Project Lead experience; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Certificate from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.
Evidence of effective verbal and written communications skills as collaboration required will be extensive and diverse
Experience in using marketing and analytic skills
Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment and drive projects to completion working with aggressive timelines
Minimum 2 years of technology, digital media, and/or product management experience
Evidence of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI)
Evidence of a Agile/Scrum certification including Professional Scrum Master (PSM) and/or ,Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and/or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) or equivalent
Experience working in matrixed reporting structure and managing Agile/Scrum teams in this matrix organization with IT projects
Evidence of AWS certifications including Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) or other associate or professional certifications through AWS
Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles, practices and techniques needed in support of large complex initiatives.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer security and identity management issues.
Demonstrated knowledge of change management principles and practices to identify opportunities for change and the ability to convey the need for change.
Skill in easily recognizing areas for internal improvement and develops plans for implementation.
Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.
Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution’s sustainability programs.
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
Use office equipment including a desktop computer; bending.
Lift up to 20 pounds.
Clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
