JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a full-time, twelve-month administrative position responsible to the Director, Enterprise Application Systems, for the following:
Managing Oracle and SQL environments for Ellucian Banner enterprise application suite.
Providing support for interdependent technologies including Operational Data Store, Electronic Data Warehouse, Luminis portal, Cognos, Linux, Tomcat, and other integrated applications.
Managing Ellucian product suite upgrades and patch installations, account maintenance, database backup and recovery, database security, system and database monitoring, database performance tuning, 3GL programming and compilation, file transfer protocols, and capacity planning.
Analyzing data relationships, impact to existing procedures, and data integration points.
Using PL/SQL and Oracle stored procedures in a Windows and Linux environments.
Assuring quality control, standardization, change management, and strategic planning for all database systems.
Monitoring and tuning database environments to ensure production procedures are optimally tuned.
Researching and recommending new methodologies and technologies to maintain a state of the art system and infrastructure.
Maintaining professional knowledge and skill set by attending seminars, conferences, user group meetings, specialized training and reading appropriate published materials.
Providing technical advice and recommendations to departments requesting specialized support or services.
Working evenings, weekends, and out-of-town travel is periodically required.
Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Enterprise Application Systems.
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Information Science or a related field required.
Three to five years related technical experience required (experience with Banner and/or Oracle essential; will consider equivalent combination of training and experience.)
Thorough knowledge of all phases of database design, programming, and programming language constructs required.
Experienced PL/SQL Developer required
Experience with Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Developer Suite, Windows Server, Linux Server, and Cognos desirable.
Ability to work with users/administrators that are not technically skilled.
Strong customer-service orientation and strong interpersonal relationship building skills essential.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment preferred.
Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Must be able to work independently, respect confidentiality, and maintain courtesy with co-workers and customers.WORKING CONDITIONS:
