The Associate Director of Infrastructure is responsible for assisting the Director to provide leadership support, vision and planning of enterprise networking for Elon University. This position is responsible for day-to-day leadership and management of the network operations, security, architecture and building/designing of wired, fiber/copper, and wireless infrastructure in new and renovated buildings for the development and maintenance of the overall infrastructure architecture of the university. Other duties include developing and managing operational procedures to support the environment, ensuring adherence to technology standards and policies, and pursuing continuous improvement in services and cost effectiveness. The incumbent administers the budget for campus networking and telephony. Effective leadership of team members and resources as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve departmental goals and initiatives is key to this role. This position will have hiring authority for all subordinate positions.
Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer science or related discipline is required, Master’s preferred. Ten years of progressive experience in Information Technology, including at least five years’ supervisory experience, and hands-on network engineering experience in an enterprise data networking infrastructure environment. A thorough knowledge of network technologies and theory is required. Any computer or networking related certification is desirable.
