Department Instructional Technology Support Services (ITSS)
Department Description Academic Technology Services (ATS) delivers and supports educational technology to inspire a culture of lifelong learning among students, staff, and faculty. We work closely with faculty to develop online and hybrid courses and to utilize BeachBoard, the campus learning management system. In addition, ATS builds and maintains technology enhanced classrooms, provides desktop support for staff in the Division of Academic Affairs, and manages enterprise-level software licenses. We value innovation and teamwork; our open office workspace provides opportunities for staff to collaborate on cross-functional projects that foster initiative and encourage professional development.
Time Base/Hours/Units per Week Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Position Description Under the direction of the AVP for Academic Technology, the incumbent will serve as the Director for Instructional Technology Support Services. This unit oversees online learning for the campus and includes instructional design, multimedia, and other aspects of instructional technology. The Director of Instructional Technology Support Services (ITSS) will serve as a member of the ATS Leadership Group working collaboratively with other members to advise the AVP for Academic Technology, coordinate ITSS initiatives, and deliver the appropriate functional services of the team in a holistic manner.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proven ability to develop operational and organizational procedures. Knowledge of LMS and related emerging technologies. Knowledge of the academic culture in higher education. Ability to develop highly effective and well performing teams. Problem solving skills. Excellent presentation skills.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience Equivalent to a Master's degree in educational technology or a related field.?Five years of experience in the academic technology field. Operational issues and project management required. Higher education experience preferred. Five years of experience in management. Experience working in a unionized environment preferred. Is capable of developing highly effective and well performing teams. Experience with campus wide system administration. Experience managing a Learning Management System preferred.
