We currently have an opening for a Senior Security Systems Administrator
The Senior Security Systems Administrator is an integral member of the Information Security Office within Information Technology Services (ITS), and supports the selection and implementation of security technology on University servers, applications and databases. Additionally, the Security Systems Administrator assists with other security-related functions including, forensic investigation, log management/ alerting, and incident response. In collaboration with the Technical Services, Network Services, and Client Support team members, this individual will help design and implement all major information technology security initiatives. He/She will be primarily responsible for administration of security technology, including installation and configuration, security, hardware and network diagnostics, performance analysis and tuning, backup and restore, and routine system maintenance. The 24×7×365 availability of critical systems requires system administrators to take part in on-call rotations which can result in work outside regular work hours.
Typical responsibilities of the Security Systems Administrator include:
Perform daily support, configuration, implementation, and testing of various security systems and technologies.
Assist with the implementation of on-going security risk assessments, scanning, intrusion detection, monitoring and remediation.
Research, test and implement new technologies in support of ongoing operations or for new projects.
Work closely with Technical Services, Network Operations, and Client Support groups on security, policies and procedures for university infrastructure.
Research and stay current on security technologies, trends, issues, legislation, threats and solutions
Provide off-hours technical support, both onsite and remote, as needed, in support of continuous operations for critical systems and applications.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required
A minimum of five (5) years varied information technology experience with servers, operating systems, software, and/or network equipment, which includes implementing and maintaining various security technologies, is required
Knowledge of information security concepts and objectives
CISSP, CISM, SANS or other security-related certification is a plus, but not required
Understanding and practical experience with server virtualization
Experience in server management and computer hardware architecture
Demonstrated experience in working effectively both independently and in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
