Essential Responsibilities Include: Design/develop web content. Create and materially contribute to the creation of written and graphic content, and logic structure of the sites, in collaboration with a variety of internal and external constituencies at all levels of the university. Use appropriate tools for web design, authoring and programming. Work with appropriate university and consultant staff to create web-based services that are standards-based, highly functional, and well-integrated. Develop and design standards and styles for visual and interface design that ensures usability, accessibility, and coding efficiency consistent with current standards, regulations, laws, and trends. Employ usability testing as needed to ensure that web services meet the needs of target audiences. Design, propose, and deliver web site structure, creative concept, and visual display for the university web sites.
Perform requirements analysis and content creation guidance. Guide clients in formulating requirements and defining processes; advise on alternatives and implications of new or revised services. Analyze resulting proposals and conduct feasibility studies; recommend optimum approach and develop system design for approved project. Work directly with clients to develop materials for use on university web sites. Support optimal use of content management system. Acquire thorough knowledge of system architecture, capabilities, existing customizations, and administration. Work with web content team to implement new CMS capabilities, improve workflow, develop new display and content options, and build in greater efficiencies and quality controls. Assist with CMS training and administration.
Perform troubleshooting and resolution of web design and usability problems, including root cause analysis, and identify improvements to minimize impact of future occurrences. Coordinate with Technology Services and external vendors to resolve technical problems as needed. Implement approved improvements. Act as a liaison for the creative content team with the Technology Services technical team. Manage projects. Define project scope, requirements, and deliverables and develop project plans to meet objectives. Coordinate project activities, ensuring that projects remain on schedule and that work accomplished meets specifications. Oversee project resources, including any third-party contractors or service providers.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree or completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. At least five (5) years’ professional web design experience in projects performing these or similar duties and responsibilities. Good written communication skills: Ability to express information effectively, and to create, compose, and edit written materials. Organizational skills: Ability to organize work, coordinate with other team members to accomplish goals, and ensure progress is made on assigned tasks. Analytical skills: Ability to integrate differing bodies of knowledge in troubleshooting and solving technical problems, including performing root cause analysis and follow up to ensure the issues are addressed at the root level. Learning skills: Ability to learn and adopt new ideas and technologies. Technology awareness: Knowledge of developments and new applications of internet technologies to the university’s online presence. Teamwork skills: Ability to work effectively in teams.

Web browser debugging using Developer Tools and understanding cross browser issues.
Various content management systems (CMS)—especially Hannon Hill Cascade CMS.
Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator.
Current web-related regulations, laws and trends.
Principles, methods, and tools for managing projects.
