The Dean of Libraries reports to the provost and responsibilities include collaborating with fellow deans, participating in service activities on campus and engaging in scholarship through publication, presentations and R&D activities. The dean represents the university at state, regional, national and international venues. JMU Libraries is an active member of the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA). Qualities and qualifications:
Education and scholarship demonstrating considerable knowledge of current and future trends affecting libraries and/or educational technology.
Leadership and administration experience.
Evidence of effective change management and alignment toward a shared vision within a complex organization.
Demonstrated success with identifying and securing resources for an organization.
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, with review of applications to begin October 23, 2018. The desired start date is July 1, 2019, or sooner, depending upon availability of the successful candidate. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
