Information Technology Services (IT Services) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO). IT Services uses world-class services and technologies to empower UC San Diego's mission to transform California and the world as a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university.
The Communications & Outreach team is responsible for strategic outreach, marketing, and communications for the Office of the CIO and IT Services.

We’re looking for a well-rounded communications professional with experience in a variety of writing styles and communications planning. The following skills are listed in order of importance.
Writing opportunities range from feature and newsletter articles to product documentation to marketing copy. Formats include web, email, print collateral, presentation/speeches and video scripts.
For communications planning, we’re seeking a demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to plan and execute an initiative from start to finish. An ability to completely “own” a workstream or two is highly desirable!
Experience in graphic and web design is preferred but not required. At minimum, we’re looking for a willingness to learn design and web basics and grow from there.
Internal communications and culture for IT Services staff. We’re some 400+ strong, spread out across campus and across the world. We’re currently revamping our intranet to help everyone stay connected.
Campus technologists (who aren’t in IT Services). We need to ensure our initiatives don’t clash with theirs, and vice versa. Also, we throw two big events each year: campuslisa.ucsd.edu and processpalooza.ucsd.edu

Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.
A Bachelor’s Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues.
Exceptional ability to write and communicate business content effectively in a variety of mediums (web, press release, newsletter, brochure, presentations, etc.) and in ways appropriate to targeted audiences.
Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content for a variety of online and print publications. Proven ability and working experience in writing and editing for accuracy and style. Working knowledge and application of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation according to departmental standards.
Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills. Required to communicate clearly, succinctly and effectively with a variety of audiences, including clients, vendors, executives, and staff members.
Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans. Strong skills to ensure production of high quality work in a high volume environment within budget and time constraints. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to understand the overall goals of an organization and craft strategies and approaches to meet organizational goals via communications.
