Job Summary/Objective: Sweet Briar College is seeking to expand its team of programmer / analysts with an emphasis on knowledge in finance systems and processes. This position will be a member of a cross-trained team supporting all aspects of the college while acting as the lead team member supporting the operations of the Business Office. The preferred candidate will have strong technical analysis and problem solving skills along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate well with the team and communicate effectively with users.
Sweet Briar’s ERP is Ellucian Banner running on Oracle. Working knowledge of SQL database systems is required and prior experience with Banner and/or Oracle is strongly preferred.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours: Full time, Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility for events or special projects as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Providing support for Banner Finance modules
Designs, writes, maintains, and implements software to solve business problems
Analyzes complex business systems to determine system requirements
Produces technical and user documentation
Troubleshoots application system failures
Keeping abreast of related technology advances and trends
Create standard and complex queries against Oracle, Banner forms, and all respective inclusive structures
Fulfill report requests
Works collaboratively with IT staff and other departments to establish test and production schedules for implementation of system enhancement; and testing Banner patches, releases and upgrades
SQL Knowledge (Oracle preferred)
Demonstrated skill in programming / scripting
Strong technical analysis / problem solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of MS Access products (Argos knowledge a plus)
Demonstrated business process knowledge
Three years or more programming experience
Existing knowledge of Banner Finance module and experience working with Banner
Knowledge of Linux and Windows
Work Environment: Traditional office environment, primarily indoors.
Physical Demands: Extensive computer use and typing required; extended periods of sitting/standing may be required.
Travel: Less than 10% for travel and/or conference attendance or training.
