Director of OSA Student Systems

The purpose of this position is to provide analysis, support, and service to the Office of Student Assistance (OSA) by developing, implementing, and maintaining user applications for the Banner Student System, MyPacePortal, and third-party software applications. The incumbent will also serve as a liaison between vendors and the office as well as be able to develop cost analysis, design implications and detailed implementation timelines. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to contributing to all decisions relating to the day-to-day operation of the Banner ERP and Student Module; researching and resolving problems, planning solutions, and recommending software or systems changes to meet evolving business needs.
Provide leadership and direction to Student Systems Team staff for all application development, reporting and project management related initiatives.
Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical/procedural problems including systems (cross functional or across organizational lines) related to or integrated with, the Student System/Banner.
Exercise strategic and tactical thinking to arrive at key decisions regarding major systems, data sharing arrangements and product delivery models to streamline the technology blueprint with goals to increase revenue, reduce expenses, and provide a high level of customer satisfaction.
Develop and execute strategic plans for student system and programming related activities.
Coordinate project initiation, prioritization, and information technology resource allocation for student systems team staff.
Manage the Student Systems team’s Operational Calendar, coordinate team member assignments, and provide the Executive Director with weekly operation updates.
Interact with University departments to learn and document requirements that are then used to produce business requirement and communication documentation for projects related to student areas.
Convert user requests in to technical requirements.
Prepare and submit data constructs in preparation for data quality review and on-going data warehouse enhancements.
Work closely with ITS to map database design, flowcharts and use cases for system enhancements.
Manage Student Systems change management, ERP upgrades, testing and documentation in accordance with ITS and industry standards.
Manage IT Audit procedures and documentation.
Receives all user information, remains abreast of systems modifications and enhancements, and prepares and distributes user information.
Prepares problems definition and conducts systems analysis, design, and review.
Receive and coordinate response to requests from internal and external sources for information and reports of the student data managed by the Office of Student Assistance.
Advises staff on system policy and procedure.
Perform other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Bachelor’s degree in a computing related field (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration).
At least two years of supervisory experience.
Experience with advanced computer operations, methods, practices, and procedures.
Functional knowledge of Ellucian Banner ERP preferred.
Knowledge of database management systems.
Exceptional communication skills demonstrated by the ability to research, write, edit, and produce technical documentation, training materials, and reports.
Knowledge of student services (student accounts, student records, and advising functions).
Effective time and project management skills. Demonstrated experience applying project management tenets and converting user requests into technical specifications.
Knowledge of higher education programs and resources; Student Information System/ERP system, and reporting needs.
Knowledge of a variety of programming languages, operating systems, and computer hardware platforms. Ability to write in Oracle SQL and familiarity with SAS (Enterprise Guide) and Python/PHP is a plus.
Familiarity or experience with the National Student Clearinghouse Etranscript, R25/25Live, TouchNet, Degree Works, Destiny One, College Scheduler, Starfish or similar systems is a plus.
Monday – Friday (Flexible) Some evenings and weekends necessary.
