Overview: We are looking for someone who wants to continue to develop their network engineering skills as part of our network engineering group, managing all aspects of data communication for the campus including wired and wireless connectivity in the academic buildings, residence halls and the data center. We are working to transition our data center and campus network to leverage more software defined networking concepts and this is a great time to be part of the implementation of these new technologies. Our networking group also handles all the security devices, firewalls, VPN, access control lists on the routers and switches, to ensure we can maintain a stable and reliable first class network for the campus. This position will need to work collaboratively with other groups in central IT and the campus community to support campus goals, and partner with researchers working on advanced networking technologies and initiatives.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Configure switches, routers and wireless access points
Manage firewalls, ACL and VPN security policies
Troubleshoot issues throughout the network
Interact with faculty, staff and students to resolve problems
Educate peers and student staff on networking technologies and how the campus network functions and can be best utilized
Work closely with a large group of student staff to maintain network operations for the campus

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree, preferably in an IT related field, and two years experience working in an IT field.
