The Information Security officer will continuously develop and improve the security posture and reduce risk for the College through the scoping and shaping of the Information Security Program. The position will be responsible for the policy/practice development and the operational security program with the goal of protecting College information and assets. The role also serves as a resource across the division to formulate and implement systems and practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information or Cybersecurity (or related field) and Certification such as CISSP, SSCP, GSEC or other information security related certification. Experience in a higher education setting and experience working with a diverse staff, faculty and student base a plus. Demonstrated collaboration skills and the ability to work well as a member of a team, or independently.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skills in penetration testing, application vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and compliance testing.
Working knowledge and application of UNIX, Linux, Active Directory, Group Policy, Cisco ACLs, SSL certificates, IDS/IPS, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, Firewalls, identity and access control and syslog.
Knowledge of information security standards (e.g., ISO 17799/27002, NIST800-53, etc.) and federal and state regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.) and GDPR.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to stay organized amidst changing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects.
Ability to problem solve by exercising proper judgement and timely decision-making skills.
