Binghamton University is looking for a Lead Programmer/Analyst to join our Enterprise Applications team which is a part of the Enterprise Systems and Applications group. The Enterprise Systems and Applications group is responsible for the systems infrastructure and the development and support of many of the Universities’ online systems. The Applications team identifies and builds solutions that are reliable, scalable and based on proven technologies by vendors such as Oracle, Ellucian, SAS, CA Technologies, IBM, Internet 2, Apereo, Blackboard, and many others.
The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects including implementation and support of third-party vendor software and creation of in-house applications and processes. Work may be independent or as part of a larger team. Development initiatives are focused on web-based applications and web service requests. Batch processing of data may utilize shell scripting or other interpreted languages. Experience with applications used in Higher Education such as Ellucian Banner, ODS, Workflow, and Oracle software is a plus.
The Lead Programmer/Analyst reports to the Assistant Director of the Applications Development team and will work closely with the Administrative and Academic departments, the campus community, and other key groups/staff members within Information Technology Services (ITS).
Must be able to maintain data confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI, etc.).
Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree with IT industry certifications in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field
Minimum of two years of relevant experience in integrating business systems and applications. Proven proficiency with Web development skills
Experience with relational database systems and SQL
Experience with Linux and Shell scripting
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, and ability to deal with ambiguity in a changing business environment
Experience in working in a large complex organization
Experience working in higher education or a research environment
