The Academic Success Center at The University of Tampa has an opening for Assistant Director of Retention Initiatives. This position serves a key role in achieving improved retention and graduation rates for UT's undergraduate students. UT's strategic goal is to improve student retention, success and graduation utilizing the Education Advisory Board (EAB) Student Success Collaborative (SSC) coordinated care network, a predictive analytics platform that helps advisors, faculty and support areas provide specialized support for specific student groups. The position serves as the SSC Team Lead who will work with the Associate Provost to develop and oversee retention and graduation initiatives using the SSC Campus platform at UT. This position reports directly to the Associate Provost and Dean for Academic Services.
This position works at the interface between end users, UT's Registrar and Information Technology and
Security offices, and the EAB staff who support the University.
Oversight, coordination, and consultation of the SSC Team and its responsibilities.
Workflow & process, rollout, and support.
In conjunction with the associate provost, establishes and implements student success strategies ensuring provision of assessment data and reports, consultation on the system, and other elements as needed.
Collaborating with and providing leadership for the SSC Leadership Team.
Working closely with the EAB consultant and Associate Provost office to establish direction for the system, and utilize the EAB SSC platform analytics to provide meaningful academic analytics and recommendations for improvement to the Associate Provost/ ASC Directors/ Associate Dean of CTL.
Assessment, Reporting and Performance Consulting
Strategic planning for system use, rollout, training, implementation.
Strategic Consultation for all aspects of SSC.
Develop reports and analyze data that support and drive decision making as requested by the Associate Provost, or as driven by consultation with Deans and departments regarding Instructional support levied through the SSC platform.
Use EAB data to assist departments in improving performance and assessing efforts.
Prepare training materials and lead training for users across the campus.
Working with EAB analytics to provide information to the Associate Provost's office regarding overall student academic success including, but not limited to: curricular impediments identification of the predictive analytics for student progression, retention and graduation and working with academic departments/ASC/associate provost/CTL to develop effective strategies for improvement.
Supervise the SSC Team Specialists.
Oversee Graduate Assistants and other staff in support of the SSC.
Teach one, 2 credit ASK 100 course per year.
Participate in office staff development, meetings, and administrative functions as well as serve as an active member on assigned university committees.
Post-baccalaureate education in an academic discipline required, with a Master's degree from a regionally accredited university preferred.
2-5 years recent work in the higher education environment.
Knowledge of data analytics and its uses in retention management. Experience with analytics programs (e.g., EAB SSC or Civitas) preferred.
Experience/knowledge in pulling data from student information systems for reporting and analysis.
Knowledge of academic policies, procedures, current best practice literature in student success.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially report writing.
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Ability to relate effectively with students, parents, and university personnel.
