General Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Business Analyst is the primary liaison between Yale School of Management Information Technology and other departments in the school. Provides expertise to clients, elicits, analyzes and develops business and functional requirements for initiatives, serves in a relationship management role and participates on project teams to ensure timely delivery of project initiatives that meet the requirements of key stakeholders. Develops the initial project charter and clarification of the project scope, requirements, measurable outcomes, and deliverables for projects or programs of a medium to large size. Collects, manipulates and analyzes data, communicates insights and recommendations in an easy to understand, meaningful manner, enabling stakeholders to readily consume complex business processes and insights. Participates in the full systems development life cycle of assigned technical and non-technical projects to ensure comprehensive, timely and high-quality outcome of assigned projects. Prioritizes projects, establishes realistic time to completion and resource estimation, communicates accomplishments and challenges, and helps manage to those goals. Develops project plans using appropriate tools to ensure business requirements are completely satisfied, on time and within budget. Facilitates requirements gathering sessions to understand and document complex business needs, often eliciting hidden requirements and/or clarifying vague or unclear requirements. Serves as a conduit between clients and the DevOps team.
Required: Bachelor’s degree and four years related experience including proven ability to translate complex and potentially ambiguous business requirements into accurate deliverables to obtain stakeholder approval with minimal guidance. Must have demonstrated ability with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence and programming languages, strong knowledge of database concepts and information models, and basic knowledge of servers, networking and client-side technology. Solid understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation, quality assurance and production support. Requires strong customer service orientation, excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage projects and priorities in complex and dynamic environment. Proficient in technical writing (requirements, design, test case and script creation). Preferred: Four – five year’s work with clients as business analyst or developer with project scope. Experience performing Quality Assurance testing including test case creation & execution. Development exp. with modern programming language. Experience in Kanban, SCRUM or agile development practices. Global orientation; experience working across countries & regions, & fluency in more than one language.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
