Information Technology Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for an Enterprise Architecture. This person will be responsible for translating business strategy into effective and efficient information technology services. The position facilitates the implementation of West Virginia University’s technology strategy. Additionally, the position is responsible for keeping abreast of industry trends and best practices, recommending appropriate hardware and software upgrades, serving as a systems expert and advisor, consulting on enterprise projects and training infrastructure and application development team members. The Enterprise Architect, in conjunction with ITS and University leadership, will help set the technology direction, standards and guidelines, and driving IT adoption and governance.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Collaborate with stakeholders, business representatives, and subject matter experts to design information technology systems and solutions.
Establish enterprise IT standards, integration principles and compliant reusable building blocks to gain ROI and operations efficiency on the enterprise IT infrastructure.
Govern, align, and evolve enterprise IT strategy, roadmaps and capabilities to support the enterprise business strategy by becoming a strategic partner with the business and IT.
Reviews solution options, researches and analyzes alternatives and recommends solutions to business and technology leadership, providing expertise regarding the integration of applications across the organization.
Optimize enterprise IT and streamline service delivery channels for resolution and implementation of complex, cross-domain technology projects.
Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards, guidelines and policies that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operational systems and applications across the enterprise.
Reviews and provides input and approves the application architecture, technical architecture and data architecture.
Reviews and approves technical processes, standards and software architectures used to develop, implement and support solutions.
• Training and certifications in information technology, computer networking, and database management preferred • Project management training is preferred
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. A degree in an information technology related field is preferred. A Master's degree is also preferred.
A combination of six (6) years of experience in the following areas are required:
Progressive development and systems architecture experience required with a broad range of technologies and platforms
Project management experience, including the ability to plan and schedule projects and monitor their implementation, preferably experience with architecture related projects
Cloud Computing and service-oriented architecture experience is highly preferred
