To manage Hamad Bin Khalifa University's (HBKU) Information Technology (IT) infrastructure.
Key Result Areas:
Evaluate the University's needs for IT resources and carry out strategic planning in collaboration with the CIO to ensure all needs are realistically addressed within budgetary constraints
Establish and enforce compliance with security policies, procedures for network usage and take all necessary measures to protect the security and integrity of the network
Develop project plans with timelines and budgets and manage their implementation to ensure achievement of desired results
Collaborate with Qatar Foundation (QF) IT and IT vendors to determine technical specifications for approved IT infrastructure, network and security
Collaborate with QF IT, QF Procurement and other QF units and IT vendors to select, acquire, install, integrate, and maintain hardware, software and services. Develop and monitor service-level agreements
Establish operational plans for systems and applications, including staffing of critical operational support functions
Plan and manage the data center and MDF/IDF rooms (Intermediate and Main Distribution Frames) and manage network utilization and bandwidth to ensure adequate capacity
Monitor network usage and recommend ways to improve service performance and gain efficiencies
Participate in QF IT projects, including those of branch campuses, as directed by the CIO
In cooperation with IT management, develop a strategic plan and vision for IT security
Identify operational controls, processes and benchmarks to assist the campus in measuring compliance with internal and external IT security policies and practices. Develop processes for reporting compliance and benchmarking against baselines, past results, peer institutions and industry standards and report to campus stakeholders, executive leadership and external agencies as needed.
Other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Master's degree in Computer Science or other relevant technology-related field; professional association memberships and certifications is an advantage
Eight years of IT infrastructure management and strategic IT planning experience, preferably in a higher education environment, at least five of which are in a senior management role
Experience managing outsourced work, such as that done by QF IT or an IT vendor
Application of Industry Standard IT Best Practices
Thorough knowledge of managing network server, application server, network storage, VM environment, network core switching, edge switching and wireless network
Microsoft product troubleshooting experience (including domain controllers, file servers, SharePoint 2013, backup servers, DHCP, ONS and print servers)
Exemplary project planning, management and analytical skills
Exemplary interpersonal communication and conflict management skills
Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
