Indiana State University seeks qualified Broadcast Engineering applicants for a vacant position in the Office of Information Technology. The Broadcast Engineer supports the technical infrastructure and systems for the two F.M. radio stations operated by staff and students in the Student Media Department as well as the systems and infrastructure used to deliver streaming applications such as ESPN3, commencements, and other special events. In addition, this position is the primary support resource for a newly installed state of the art teaching studio to support the learning activities for our students pursuing degrees in the Communications and Broadcasting curricular arenas. We are seeking candidates with a proper mix of broadcast experience as well as digital/communication knowledge since many of the systems and technologies in use today and anticipated in the future will use the data network. Job Summary: This position is responsible for technical support and planning related to the campus broadcast environment, installing and maintaining video, audio, and other equipment associated with radio and television broadcasting. The Broadcast Engineer designs and develops documentation as well as analyzes systems during the development of computer based solutions for various departments throughout campus. This includes server-based record and play-out systems, non-linear editors, production switchers, routing switchers, MPEG encoders, decoders, automation, news room computer systems, devices connected to the data network, and broadcast transmission equipment. The services supported by this position have significant visibility in the local community and, often, with alumni and other University stakeholders. This position is required to work some evenings and weekends and to respond to emergencies in a timely fashion.
Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree (4 years), FCC License; Experience: 3-4 years. At least three years of experience supporting commercial grade broadcast engineering environments, both video and audio and experience working with or in charge of the technical aspects of a FCC certified FM radio station.
