California State University, Dominguez Hills, was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University system. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of over 12,500 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. Department: Information Technology
The Division of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership and support in information technology for the entire CSU Dominguez Hills community. The Division promotes IT solutions that improve the teaching, learning, research, and administrative environment of the University. The Vice President / CIO provides overall management of the Division of IT. The Division of Information Technology is comprised of eight operational units: Service & Financial Mgmt, User Services, Academic Technology, Infrastructure & Production Services, Information Security, Development & Digital Convergence, Innovation Incubator, and Operational Effectiveness, Planning, & Analytics.
Major Job Duties:
Technology Initiative (ATI) Coordinator coordinates campus efforts to provide exemplary barrier-free computing, information technology systems, and resources. These include hardware, software, enterprise applications, web content and tools, and other online and classroom technologies. Promotes awareness of the need for accessibility of information systems and effects systemic change. Keeps abreast of emerging assistive, information and instructional technologies, and solutions. Establishes processes and guidelines related to the university providing accessible technology and facilities. Proactively and systemically addresses overall accessibility of IT systems and infrastructure to improve the usability and interoperability of university resources and instruction delivery mechanisms for people with disabilities. This includes evaluating all campus product purchases and monitoring of web and instructional materials accessibility assessments. Provides consultative and technical support for all adaptive technology workstations used by students, faculty, and staff with disabilities across campus.
Qualifications: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Demonstrated knowledge of electronic access initiatives as they relate to the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, including technical standards/guidelines related to academic and work environments (e.g., ADAAG, Title 24, Section 504, etc). - Demonstrated experience with project management methodology and implementation, including providing direction and training to colleagues. - Demonstrated expertise in adaptive technology functionalities and the needs of users with disabilities in an academic setting, including but not limited to all hardware and software technologies used to deliver accessible Instructional Materials (IM): JAWS, ZoomText, MAGic, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Duxbury, Adobe Acrobat and Creative Cloud, Microsoft Access; media captioning software, high speed scanners, Braille embossers and displays; CCTVs, electronic text delivery devices, and Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs). - Demonstrated knowledge of Web accessibility standards (e.g., HTML, CSS, etc.) and ability to develop and maintain accessible web pages according to current access guidelines (e.g. ADAA, Section 508, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), etc.). - Demonstrated experience and skill consulting with and teaching IT professionals who may be unfamiliar with the adaptive technology needs of users with disabilities regarding a wide range of problems found in standard and non-standard applications and systems. - Demonstrated technical knowledge and skill in troubleshooting information systems and applications, equipment platforms, networks, servers, data communication, multimedia systems and related malfunctions. - Demonstrated ability to administer local and system-wide security practices and protocols. - Strong capacity for professional and advanced interpersonal and communication skills in working with users of varying skill levels to interpret needs and provide appropriate solutions. - Demonstrate appropriate flexibility and ability to adapt to changing workplace priorities and constituency demands - Strong knowledge in the application of current copyright laws and industry standards as applied to IM and adaptive software. - Working knowledge of California State University (CSU) and CSUDH policies and procedures, with substantial insight into the reasoning behind policies and practices.
Experience and Education:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.
Required Experience: Two (2) years of experience in accessibility laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 AA.
Salary Range: The salary range for this classification is: $4,372 - $10,173 Monthly.
