Loyola Marymount University is seeking a Business Intelligence and Institutional Research Associate. Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Business Intelligence, the Business Intelligence and Institutional Research Associate will integrate business intelligence technology with traditional institutional research responsibilities as part of the Institutional Research and Decision Support team; implement and expand the office’s business intelligence initiatives; ensure data quality and maintain data dictionary; develop reports, analyses, and dashboards that support decision making and planning.
Additional responsibilities include: write queries, design, implement, and support business intelligence dashboards and data visualizations, and determine testing needed to assure the functionality and integrity of reporting solutions. The incumbent will also identify data quality issues and work with appropriate staff to resolve issues and processes as needed, develop and implement data validation procedures and data models, and work with the Associate Director of Business Intelligence to administer policies, standards and procedures for strategic data planning, data analysis and modeling.

Typically, candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related quantitative field or equivalent experience. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in developing reports, dashboards, data visualizations and scorecards using business intelligence and visualization software such as SAP Business Objects, Oracle BI Enterprise Edition, Tableau or Qlik. Experience with BusinessObjects and Tableau a plus. We also seek candidates to have at minimum three (3) years’ experience with databases or information systems in progressively responsible positions. Experience with SQL a plus. We prefer candidates to have experience working in a university setting and knowledge and understanding of key concepts in higher education. Strong people management, exemplary communication/critical thinking skills, and the ability to problem solve is required.
