The Educational Technologist works as a team member in the Educational Technology Center (ETC) within the Division of Information Technology Services (ITS). S/he provides administrative management and end-user support for LMS and related Teaching and Learning services, consults with the faculty on effectual use of educational technology across a range of instructional modes, and facilitates academic transformation through fusion of pedagogical and technological innovation. S/he takes initiative to investigate opportunities and challenges with existing and emerging technologies, resolve problems, propose strategies, and develop action plans with a vision for quality and scalable support for the digital learning environment. As a member of the ETC team, s/he collaborates effectively across ITS and with campus constituencies and stakeholders to proliferate innovation and excellence in educational technology services.
Duties and responsibilities:
Coordinate with the Digital Learning Systems Architect to provide administrative, management, configuration, and end-user support for teaching and learning services, including day-to-day operational support for instructors
Facilitate resolution of service requests, incidents, and problems for applications within scope (service offering operation), including interaction with vendors as needed
Assist the Systems Architect on configuration of applications, change management, upgrade projects, system reporting, functional testing, and customizations
Maintain knowledge of product road maps for LMS services
Develop resources such as tutorials, instructional aids, screen videos, workshops, and webinars to engage faculty with effective use of educational technology and online teaching
Participate in rotational schedule of primary support contact for faculty service request and incident inquiries via phone, web, and in person
Provide expert guidance on the use of teaching and learning services and features and support design and development of multimedia course materials
Collaborate effectively with ITS staff and multiple campus constituencies on projects to explore, evaluate, implement and assess current and emerging technologies and their effective application
Create and maintain service documentation as needed
Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Information Technology, Information Science, or related discipline from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Dept. of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization OR a Master's degree and one year of experience
Minimum of two years progressively responsible or expansive work experience in instructional design, educational technology, IT, web design, project management, and education

Expertise with Microsoft Excel
Capable of using Skype, Zoom, or similar conferencing tools
Knowledgeable and competent with the features of Learning Management System service offerings such as Blackboard Learn or similar (e.g. Moodle, Canvas, Desire2Learn, etc.), including add-ons and LTI extensions
Knowledge of multimedia tool capabilities such as Photoshop, Captivate, Camtasia, mobile apps, lecture/screen capture, and video content creation
Familiarity with instructional design approaches and understanding of best practices related to technology-enhanced teaching and learning
Excellent communication skills, including professional experience in the development and delivery of presentations, workshops and/or trainings in an educational setting
Strong organization, time management, interpersonal, and communication abilities to carry initiatives to success
Ability to work effectively both individually and in alignment with team and organizational goals
Master's degree in Educational Technology, Information Technology, Information Science, or related discipline from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Dept. of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
Experience supporting faculty in a teaching/learning environment
Experience developing online courses
Demonstrated experience administering Learning Management System service offerings (preferably Blackboard)
Ability to successfully initiate, organize, lead/manage, and complete projects as part of a team
Demonstrated use of development tools for creating interactive/eLearning content (e.g. Flash, Captivate, Camtasia, VoiceThread, Dreamweaver, etc.)
Familiarity with Linux commands and SQL queries
Experience with data science approaches and statistical applications for analysis and visualization
Knowledge of universal design for accessible online courses and content
