The University of California is recruiting a Program Director, Systemwide Transformation Initiative to join their UCPath PMO team in Oakland.

The UCPath Program is a groundbreaking program to implement a single payroll, benefits, HR and academic personnel solution for all 230,000 UC employees, centralize certain HR/APO and payroll transaction process within a shared service center, and standardize/streamline payroll, HR, and benefits processes across the UC System. UCPath is the largest business transformation the University has undertaken, implementing a shared service center in Riverside, CA that will employ ~400 once it’s fully operational. https://youtu.be/_WO3IFpOhm4
The program has successfully deployed two pilot campuses and has three deployments scheduled over the next 24 months for the remaining eight campuses and five medical centers. The next deployment will be August/September 2018 and includes UC Santa Barbara, and their largest campus, UCLA.
The Program Director is a key member of the program management team leading the deployments to UCPath. This role will take over day to day leadership at a program level, collaborating with campus project teams, project governance committees, and the central project team. You will be responsible for planning and executing the solution rollout for locations in deployment two and deployment three. once UCPath is fully deployed the focus of this role will shift to streamlining business processes and driving down delivery costs for UCPath.
The team is looking for someone with extensive experience managing large complex business transformation programs; advanced relationship building, strategic thinking, and political acumen skills; experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple organizations across division, college or institutional boundaries; and comprehensive knowledge of subject area and broad knowledge of all IT areas sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction.

Provide guidance and direction for achievement of objectives; overseeing through subordinate managers the completion of system development, data conversion, process design, and change management activities required to successfully implement the UCPath solution. Directly oversee completion of critical and complex assignments requiring working knowledge of key business principles and practices. Ensure senior management and program governance committees are informed on program status, controversial situations, and customer negotiations that may impact the program costs or timelines. Ensure adherence to project budget by enforcing project financial controls and ensuring staffing and financial forecasts are updated to reflect realized and anticipated costs.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typically 10 years or more of experience managing an Information technology organization or complex business transformation programs.
Advanced relationship building, strategic thinking, and political acumen skills.
Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities to understand campus priorities, issues, motivations, and constraints.
Ability to influence the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others involving project work and initiatives.
Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple organizations across division, college or institutional boundaries.
Demonstrated leadership experience in an executive position.
Comprehensive knowledge of subject area and broad knowledge of all IT areas sufficient for strategic planning, technology assessment and direction.
Thorough knowledge of technical concepts and basic operating principles of data communications, computer hardware, vendor IT products, and software.
Demonstrated experience with senior management planning and budgeting.
Ability to understand the process involved to adapt, integrate, and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied products for use within a large and complex technical environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical topics to large groups and senior management with potentially varied levels of technical sophistication.
Knowledge of policies and procedures and ability to determine a course of action based on these guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of supervisory and leadership techniques in managing consulting services and/or technical staff.
