St. Charles Community College is seeking a full-time Programmer Analyst who will be responsible for the design, maintenance and development of computer programs in support of the administrative software application (e.g. Colleague) and end user needs. The Programmer Analyst will provide technical support for administrative software applications and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyzes, designs, develops, tests and implements new computer programs, as assigned, using Colleague Studio (Eclipse), Crystal Reports, and any new programming tools acquired for administrative computing.
Researches and corrects errors in existing application programs and/or performs approved modifications to existing application programs.
Understands the overall structure of the administrative software application and how its parts interact and relate.
Assists in the maintenance of current administrative software application documentation. Develops and maintains end user operational documentation and programming documentation.
Assists, as needed, in installing new revisions of system or application software, in recovery procedures after a system failure, and in maintaining the accuracy of files and file structures.
Assists in the research of new developments and improvements of system and/or application software, and recommends changes or additions as appropriate.
Assists, as required, in the delivery of user training and in the support of the campus network.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline is required, Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. A working knowledge of relational database file structures, Colleague Studio (Eclipse) programming techniques and Crystal Reports, Unibasic or basic programming techniques, Uniquery data retrieval, Envision application development, and software installation in a Windows environment. Skills in logical program resolution and analyzing user problems as they relate to an application software package. Ability to work independently and under strict time lines. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. Some knowledge of networks is desired and a familiarity with Microsoft productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
A minimum of three years, full-time experience in systems analysis and design, and programming in an interactive environment (preferably in an educational setting) is required.
