The division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Liferay DevOps Engineer. Liferay is the platform powering the portal website for Northeastern students/faculty/staff/parents. The complex system involves front-end website, back-end application, database, and numerous integrations with other systems.
The Liferay DevOps Engineer's responsibilities include:
- Monitor Liferay portal system to ensure quality service to Northeastern students/faculty/staff - Manage the execution of all portal change requests which includes portal configuration changes and content changes - Perform new environment standups as needed - Manage the shutdown, recovery and testing of all impacted applications during operating system patching cycles - Manage Liferay administrations and user/group as required - Coordinate with System, Network and Enterprise Application teams to trouble shoot any portal related issues - Participate in after-hours support for assistance in production recovery or time sensitive changes which can only occur outside of standard business hours - Cross team mentoring and training to assist in propagating application knowledge to other team members
To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer science or equivalent, with 3-5 years of technical experience. - Demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers - Must have 3+ years of hands on experience supporting Linux based applications - Familiar with Apache server administration and configuration, and optimization for performance - Proficient in writing and maintaining scripts to automate system tasks - Experience or knowledge with Liferay and Elastic search is preferred - Experience working with Oracle database - Experience working with identity management system, familiar with LDAP, Active Directory - Knowledge of different Single Sign On implementation methods
