Salus University is seeking a skilled professional to fill the full-time position of Systems Support Specialist.
Primary Function: This position is responsible for the support, development, and maintenance of the Systems (software and databases) used by the University. This position is responsible for maximizing specific technical applications.
Maintain the functionality of specific software applications: Primary applications include the ERP Student Information System (Jenzabar) and its related systems and the Clinical Electronic Health Records System (Nextgen).
Develop, integrate, and configure software applications used across the organization, ensuring that all applications comply with relevant standards and regulations.
Improve existing programs by reviewing objectives and specifications; evaluating proposed changes; recommending changes; making modifications as directed.
Assist Senior System Administrator with new customer implementations, including training of end users.
Provide timely technical support to users of applications; troubleshooting and analyzing issues and solutions.
Administer changes to database maintenance and backup plans, as needed or directed.
Treat sensitive student, faculty, and administration data as confidential, including (but not limited to) adherence to the rules of regulations of the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as Amended (FERPA)
Treat sensitive patient data as confidential, including (but not limited to) adherence to the rules of regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, as Amended (HIPAA).
Cross train with the System Administrator to provide database support and reporting services for the Clinical Electronic Health Records System (Nextgen) and other application support as needed
Coordinate as needed with other members of the Technology and Library Services.
Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, systems administration or a related field.
Knowledge of information technology systems and/or applications, including Microsoft SQL Server (or a related DBMS), Microsoft Office, web-based applications, word processing applications.
Knowledge of the following programs/programming languages: SQL (preferably T-SQL), Visual Studio (preferably a C-based language or Visual Basic) and data connections within Visual Studio, and Excel\Data Connections within Excel.
Ability to organize and prioritize help desk support for multiple concurrent issues.
Ability to recognize and handle confidential information in a professional manner.
Ability to prioritize and handle several tasks simultaneously.
Ability to interact tactfully with all levels of individuals doing business with the University.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
Other Desirable Knowledge, Education and Experience:
Experience with a Clinical Electronic Health Records System (preferably Nextgen).
Strong knowledge and experience in using an integrated student data system, preferably Jenzabar.
Experience with PowerFAIDs, online student portals, academic accreditation software (preferably Taskstream), and room scheduling software.
Experience with vSphere and VMWare for managing relevant servers
